Finisterre is a cape located on the Spanish Atlantic coast, in the Galician municipality of Finisterre.
Cape Finisterre forms a rocky granite peninsula located on the Costa de la Muerte, in Galicia.
In Roman times it was believed that it was the end of the known world. The name Finisterre derives from the Latin finis terrae, which means "end of the earth".

There is a popular belief that it is the westernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula. However, Portugal's Cabo da Roca is 16.5 kilometers further west, making it the westernmost point in continental Europe. Even Cape Touriñán lies further west, being the westernmost point of mainland Spain.
Monte Facho is the name of the mountain on Cape Finisterre, whose summit is 239 meters above sea level. The Finisterre lighthouse is located at the top of Mount Facho.
The cape is considered the zero and final kilometer of the Camino de Santiago. It was declared in 2007 as European Heritage.
