In the Sierra de la Capelada, we find one of the highest cliffs in Europe, the Vixia Herbeira peak, which reaches 620 meters above sea level, impressive views of the Atlantic Ocean. With an extension close to twelve thousand hectares, the Serra de A Capelada offers a vertiginous panoramic view from the highest cliffs of the European Atlantic coast, behind the Norwegian fjords. In Serra de A Capelada, the saltpeter pampers the skin and the roar of the wind and the infinite cliffs turn the area into a dream place, so beautiful that it seems unreal. Its wild coasts offer the best panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, perhaps the most attractive of the entire European coastline. From Cedeira to the mythical Cabo de Estaca de Bares we enter the magic and bravery of this Galician territory.

On clear days, we can see the Illas Sisargas to the south and Punta de Estaca de Bares to the north.
In the beautiful setting of this mountain range is located a more than obligatory visit, the Sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido.

The sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido is located in a small valley of the Sierra de la Capelada, on the highest cliffs in Europe. Barely 30 houses are located around it, some painted bright white and with exposed stones, matching the sanctuary. This place, despite being remote, welcomes hundreds of visitors every year who are amazed at the beautiful and natural landscape in which the temple is located and the impressive views that can be seen from it.
In San Andrés, the Catholic cult of Saint Andrew is mixed with pagan rites and pre-Christian traditions. For thousands of years, the dead have been worshiped as evidenced by the numerous pre-Roman burials that have been found here. According to Celtiberian mythology, here is the door to the afterlife of the Celts.
With this visit, we recommend you visit the Cabo Ortegal lighthouse, a place that will not leave you indifferent, where you will be able to appreciate the true force of the sea on the large rocks of our coast.
